It’s time for the 2022 Spring One Room Challenge! I am so excited to be making over the mudroom for the next eight weeks. I am happy to be sharing my design plan with all of you! Please go check out all the participants at www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog
Now anything could change over the next eight weeks, but this is the plan! I want to build a lattice ceiling. I want a super smooth finish so I will not be using any pre-fabricated lattice options. I will be laying a heated floor and tiling for the first time! Then I will also be building out brand new mudroom lockers with doors and drawers. Also, I’ve never built cabinets before but that’s not gonna stop me! Below are a few before pictures.
As you can see by the pictures, I’m doing a gray and white marble checkerboard floor with white walls and green cabinetry, brass fixtures and white and green drapery / trim or combination. Here’s a sneak peek of when I got impatient and took the hammer out on Monday night to start demo!
I hope you’ll follow along each week as progress is made! This first week is preparing. My handyman is helping me prep the space so I can get to work. We raised the floor 7 inches and we’ll be raising the door, then I can get started. I got impatient and primed the ceiling Tuesday night. I’m ready to get started! A few more progress pictures below.
